Latimer (Print) Competition
The club holds seven Latimer Print competitions each year (note year 2020-2021 will have only three). This competition offers any club member to participate by entering up to three printed images. Awards are given based on a ballot of members and a professional photographer print judge. After members vote for their favorite entries, the professional judge critiques each print and presents his/her photography or a topic related to photography.
Projected Image Competition
The club holds seven electronic competitions each year. This competition offers any club member to participate by entering up to three digital images. The images are submitted prior to the night’s competition. On the night of the competition, the judge critiques each image and awards prizes to the winning entrants. Each judge also presents his/her own photography or a topic related to photography. An email address on file is required for members to participate.
The Boston Camera Club includes members having a wide variety of interest, experience and capability. The photo Education Program attempts to educate and inspire all members – of all capabilities and interests by offering lectures on a wide variety of subjects (from landscape and nature photography, to night photography, documentary, photojournalism, macro photography, etc).
The Model Studio Photo Group occasionally during the season and sets up the meeting room as a photo studio with backdrops and lighting, several models are available for members to photograph, so bring your cameras. The group provides helpful advice on indoor studio and lighting techniques.
Numerous field trips are arranged throughout the year based on interest from club members and the field trip coordinator. Most field trips focus on a location within the New England vicinity.
Photo Critiques, comprised of BCC members, meets to discuss/critique each other’s photos. The leader directs the discussion among the evening’s participants.
Throughout the year, the BCC participates in interclub competitions by entering winning images from the club’s yearly competitions or by requesting members to submit images for the competition.
From time to time, the BCC has a public exhibition of member's images. These exhibitions are open to all active members. See the Photo Exhibitions link to view local exhibitions that include BCC members. A members-only page lists upcoming "Calls for Photography Submissions" to various exhibitions in the area.
The BCC sometimes runs an annual Scavenger Hunt - open to all BCC members. A list of 12 words is chosen and members take one photo to best illustrate each word.
Special Interest Groups (SIG)
Club members organize groups of interest. The groups communicate with each other on the topics of their choosing. The club role in this is to offer signup which will stay open, and direct members to existing groups.Based on the interest the SIG group can be organized by its members (not the club!). The group leader, communications mode, frequency and meeting place is up to the group itself.
