“Creative Macro & Impressionistic Photography” with Charles Needle
Charles Needle is an award-winning Seattle-based fine art photographer and workshop leader who specializes in CREATIVE macro and landscape photography. Due to other commitments in the New England area, Charles has agreed to offer a one-day hands-on workshop, in which he will teach his specialized techniques of creating unique in-camera images, without the need for extensive Photoshop work, and sometimes involving a few “props”. Needle has presented his programs over the past two years at the NECCC conference in Amherst, and the response of the audience was overwhelming. Now, Camera Club members will have the rare opportunity to learn hands-on from Charles’ experience here in the Boston area.
More details about Charles Needle and his work can be found by visiting his website:

Sample images created by Charles using the techniques he will cover in this workshop are shown in the attached brochure.

Four sessions workshop presented this fall by Joe Liftik
September 16, October 21, November 18 and December16 7 to 9 pm at Temple Emeth
Before LR there was Photoshop a program originally designed for graphic artists, a wonderfully capable program for image making. I utilized, perhaps, thirty percent of it's features to post process my images, that is all I needed and besides the learning curve for the other features was too steep for my temperament. Then LR came along and all the capability I needed was right there, easy, intuitive and minimally complex and most importantly to me, efficient. When an image is captured correctly it takes me a few moments to post process it. A great post processing program for photographers. I am now settled, most features I need and use regularly I find in LR. From it's first version I found it easy to learn using the application's guide and Matt Klosowski free on line weekly tutorials and tips at http://lightroomkillertips.com/
I am pleased to present four hands on tutorials in the use of LR designed for novice users and those who want to develop more skills in using the LR. We will meet at Temple Emeth 194 Grove st. in Brookline, between 7 and 9 pm, on Thursdays September 16, October 21, November 18 and December 16. ((Bus route 51 for public transportation. We will meet in the board room, the entrance is around the back of the Temple on Puddingstone Road where there is parking as well.) If you have LR on your laptop bring it along with your cameras with 15 or so raw images captured in the camera's storage . If you are considering making LR your post processing choice and don't have LR, at the first meeting we will discuss which session you should bring you laptop with a 30 days free demo download.
The tutorials will cover all five LR modules, library, develop, slide show, print and web. Emphasis will be on work flow and image post processing. There will lots of time for questions and discussion.
September 16 – Work flow: hows to use the library module. Organizing photo files on your computer,
importing from camera, selecting and labeling, collections, keywords and basic development tools.
October 21 and November 18 – Post processing: using the develop modules. Exposure using histogram as guide, using basic, tone curve, detail, lens correction and effect sliders.
December 16 - using print, slide show and web modules.
