DECEMBER AND JANUARY NEWS!!!!

The following programs are scheduled during the months of December and January. Members and visitors are welcome to attend all programs.

DECEMBER 3RD MEETING

On Wednesday, December 3rd, at 7:15 p.m., our guest speaker will be Bob Singer, who will present his newest program “Seeing the Light.” This program is for every photographer, beginner or advanced. It is not about setting up lighting, but about the most fundamental of all photography tools, light itself. As a member of the audience, you will be encouraged to participate interactively as you learn how to read, recognize, understand, and use light to make a picture, not just take one.

Bob Singer, MNEC, is a juried member of the Cape Cod Art Association in Barnstable and a fine art photography instructor there, as well as at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, Cape Cod Tech’s Adult Education Program, the Cotuit Center for the Arts, and the New England Camera Club Council’s annual conference at U-Mass Amherst. Bob is an active photographic judge–commentator, instructor and regular speaker on film and digital photography at many photography conventions, associations and camera clubs throughout New England.

Before retiring, he had a long career in advertising, marketing, and publishing, as well as being a commercial/industrial photographer and partner at Singer Creative Services in Charlton, MA with his son, David. Bob is still an active published writer about photography and photo products. He has won hundreds of awards for his images that have appeared in newspapers and national magazines, advertising, promotion and packaging, and hang as limited edition fine art prints in homes and offices across the United States.

DECEMBER 17th HOLIDAY PARTY

Our President Bill Low and his wife Chris are hosting a holiday party at their home in West Dennis for all club members. Members are welcome to bring a guest. Please contact Debbie Owen at capedeb@comcast.net for additional information or if you plan on attending.

JANUARY SHOW at BREWSTER LADIES LIBRARY

The Brewster Ladies Library will be hosting an exhibition for our club members during the month of January. This is a large space with lots of exposure for non-members to see our club member’s images.

Entry dates will be from 4 – 5:30 p.m. on Friday, January 2nd and from 10 a.m. – 12 Noon on Saturday, January 3rd. Pick-up dates will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 31st.

A reception will be held on Saturday, January 10th, from 1 – 3 p.m.

We hope that all club members will enter from one to three images.

JANUARY 7th MEETING

On Wednesday, January 7th, at 7:15 p.m., our guest speaker will be Steve Heaslip of the Cape Cod Times. Steve will talk about what makes a good photojournalism image and what, if any, adjustments may be made to an image in the photojournalist world. He will let us in on the day in the life of a photojournalist. At the end of the presentation, Steve will critique one image (either digital or print) from each member.

JANUARY 21st MEETING

Our meeting on January 21st will be our fourth competition of the year. The categories are Open, Creative, and Nature for digital images, and Color and Black & White for prints. All Digital submissions must be submitted to Tom Backman, our Competition Chair, no later than January 14th (one week before the competition). Send images to capecodviewfinders@gmail.com.
