Biography :    JOSEPH FLACK WEILER has been exhibiting his fine-art
photography since 1965. He opened the Weiler Photo Gallery in Gloucester,
MA, in 1987 to exhibit his work. Joseph specializes in black and white gelatin silver prints. He does all hisown work, starting with the Zone System of exposure and film development, and prints his own photographs. He also handcrafts his own picture frames
from Ash, Cherry, Maple and Walnut woods.

Joseph's work includes photographs of New England's schooners and seascapes,
Boston and New York cityscapes and scenes from France, Ireland, Italy and
Afghanistan.J. F. Weiler graduated with honors from Rochester Institute of Technology,
School of Photography. He also studied photography with Minor White and at
Syracuse University.

Joseph was inspired to work in the monochromatic tradition by his uncle Stow
Wengenroth's work. Members of Joseph's family have been artists on Cape Ann
since the 1890' s.

J. F. Weiler has exhibited and won awards in numerous photographic exhibits,
and his photography has been selected for many collections. His exhibit
"Faces of Afghanistan" has been shown at the Berkshire Museum.
