Field Trip Tuesday, June 17, 2008
Minot Rose Garden
Brookline, MA
6:45 PM

The Minot Rose Garden is a public rose garden located at the intersection of St. Paul and Browne Streets in Brookline. Join us at 6:45 PM – bring a picnic dinner or snack. The park is open until dusk – which will be about 8:30 that evening. Greg Crisci has said that he will be there that evening to help with any macro questions you may have. In addition to the flowers, other photo opportunities may be provided by the playground in the park and the architecture in the immediate neighborhood.

RSVP to Arlene Winkleman at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it – so we will that we can expect you. I will send my cell phone number to those who respond – in case there are any weather or last minute changes.

When I contacted the Friends of Minot Garden I learned the following:

When asked the best time to visit the Garden the answer was that the absolute peak bloom time for the garden is usually around June 15. That said, there are some varieties that bloom sooner and some later than that date and the garden always has something in bloom from June - October.

When asked if there were any particular rules and regulations that we needed to observe the answer was that they ask that people not enter the actual flower beds.

Additional information:
There is on-street parking available on Still and Browne Streets adjacent to the garden, although they would recommend taking the T to the St. Paul Stop on the B or C line for easy access. The garden is at the intersection of St. Paul and Browne Streets. There is a drinking fountain but no restroom facilities. The nearest public restroom is at the Holiday Inn at the corner of Beacon and St. Paul Streets

Come and be inspired. Perhaps you will take some images to enter in a local exhibit.

The Friends of the Minot Rose Garden and the Brookline Arts Center will be having an exhibition with a garden theme in February, 2009. All artists working in any medium are invited to submit their garden-themed work for the exhibit. Submissions for the show will be accepted from June 1 – October 15, 2008. Further details on submitting works can be found at www.brooklineartscenter.com or calling 617-566-5715.
