macro photo field trip details
Sunday, March 30 2008, 9:00am - 12:00pm

Sunday, March 30 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
Field Trip to Wellesley College Botanic Gardens and Greenhouses
with a focus on Close-Up photography

This field trip will build on Greg Crisci’s presentation: “Macro Photography Nice and Easy”
Greg’s presentation included many close-up photos of flowers, accompanied with
explanations of how he created the images, what equipment he used, and how the
equipment was set up.

This field trip will allow the participants to see Greg in action at the Greenhouse. Greg has
agreed to lend his expertise and his equipment to the participants
Of course, Greg will not have equipment for every photographer. Therefore, please bring
your own tripods, macro lenses, diopter lenses, extension tubes, reflectors and flashes –
whatever you have.

As in all BCC field trips, each photographer will shoot his / her own photos. Greg will
demonstrate techniques, help participants select and compose proper images, and advise on
equipment choice and set-up.

The Friends of Horticulture, which manage the greenhouse, have agreed to let us use the
greenhouses for our photography, as long as the number of photographers is limited to
12.

Therefore we have to ask members interested in this program to register by email at
This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Please specify the equipment you will have available, that could be shared with those that on’t have it.

As we get closer to this event, we will send a follow up email, with cell-phone numbers,
available equipment, etc.

News

BCC member Erik Gehring presenting first in a series of member's photo essays.

Erik Gehring's growth as a photographer has closely
paralleled his work in the Arnold Arboretum, dating
back to 2005 when he first started visiting the park
specifically to visually document its varied flora.
This essay will focus on Erik's approach to
image-making in the Arboretum and the technical
decisions employed to describe particular subjects,
using examples from his extensive Arboretum portfolio.

Erik had a show at the Hunnewell Building in the
winter of 2008, and he's currently selling a 2009
calendar of images from the Arboretum entitled 'Trees
of Boston'.

Please join us on Tuesday October 28, 2008.
