Electronic Projection submissions requirments
Tuesday, January 22 2008, 6:30pm - 9:00pm

Digital Submission requirements:

Each member may submit a maximum of three entries in each Category (General and Nature) via e-mail to Mark Staples at  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Images should be sent to no more than one week or less than 24 hours before the competition.  Such images must be file attachments and not embedded in the body of e-mail messages. Images will be organized for projection by Mark.
Digital files shall be titled with each field of information separated by an underscore.  Each image must have a file name that shall serve as a label.  The file name must include the image category (Nature or General), Title, maker’s name, competition date, and .jpg file extension.  If the maker’s system limits file name size, the maker’s initials may be used in place of his name.
Format: category code_image name_maker name_competition date_.jpg
Example: Nature_Foggy Sunset_John Smith_23OCT2007jpg
In landscape format the image must not exceed 1024 pixels by 768.  In portrait format the image height must not exceed 768; there will be unused horizontal space that should be symmetrical and preferably filled with black on each side of the image (see below for procedure).  Color depth is limited to 8 bits per RGB channel.  Images should be submitted (if possible) with an sRGB embedded color space and saved as “.jpg” file.  Image quality compression should be 8-12 or "High". The final submitted file should be within the range of 100-300 kb without extra file compression. Due to limitations of e-mail attachment size, the total compressed file attachment must be less than 3 MB per e-mail.
Procedure for Re-sizing Images and Creating Black Borders
    1. Crop the image to include what you want to see in the boundaries of the image without any concern about the size of the image.
    2. If you are working with a "Landscape" image format, go to Image>Image Size and make sure that the three "check boxes" in the lower left corner are all checked and the "Resample Image" box reads "Bicubic". In the Pixel Dimensions box, change the width to 1024 pixels. If the height is then equal to or less than 768 pixels go to step 4. If the height is above 768 pixels, redo this step and change the height to 768 pixels. Now, the width will be less than 1024 pixels and follow step 4.
   3. If you are working with a "Portrait" image format, go to Image>Image Size and make sure that the three "check boxes" in the lower left corner are all checked and the "Resample Image" box reads "Bicubic". In the Pixel Dimensions box, change the height to 768 pixels. If the width is then equal to or less than 1024 pixels continue to step 4.
   4. Go to Image>Canvas Size and make sure that the white "Anchor" is in the center box of the gray 3 x 3 box squares, that the "Relative" box is unchecked, and the "Canvas Extension Color" is "Black". Then make the "New Size" as 1024 x 768 pixels. This results in an image that is 1024 x 768 pixels in size with the side panels black.
   5. Make sure that your image is in “sRGB” profile by going to Edit>Assign Profile. Click the bottom left button and scroll down to “sRGB IEC61966-2.1” and click OK.
   6. Save the image in jpg format with the name format as indicated in the Competition Rules and JPEG Image Options window, type in an “Image Quality” value of “10”. If the resulting file size is too large, re-save at lower JPEG quality until file size is approximately 100-300 kB
